My Journey through the Joy of Music
Jeff Schofield here... I was 19 years old--having never played the guitar before. A beat-up six-string :-) an acoustic guitar, a RUSH song, and an A minor chord. That was all it took. The same will be true in your musical journey. Trust me.
FAST FORWARD to 2024... 34 years later :-) Since that day, I have been blessed to work with 100s of artists on approvals of publications and backing tracks, played/gigged for many successful artists, touring tribute bands, taught many, many students, authored many books/reviews/articles in guitar/bass, etc., full score transcribing, name credit in 100s of transcription books.... (see below for images) ...anything book/online music educational & instructional content.
I was blessed to both attend the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music Jazz/Classical Guitar program, and work 28 years with the Hal Leonard Publishing Corp. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - on every type of music and musical content imaginable.
I teach and work in a similar style - using a foundational approach. I WILL teach you the "right" way to play the riff... which is indeed the "magic"... but I will also teach you WHY that riff sounds so... well, DUH - COOL! Then you might create your own? :-)
